Applying for Examinations
Requirements for candidates not from Wyoming schools:
Must have graduated from a Barber school recognized by the State and have equal or greater than the amount of hours required by Wyoming, or hold a license but not meet the requirements for endorsement.
Be able to provide the Board office with certification of licensure or certification of hours.

Exam Procedures (Barber Stylist)
Theory & Written-Practical:
Wyoming requires the NIC theory and written-practical examinations for all barber stylist. The exams are available at testing centers around the state. Candidate information bulletins regarding exams can be found on this website under Exam and Student Information. Once the board office approves your application you will receive an email from our test administration company ProV, with instructions to schedule and pay for your exams.
Once you have passed both your theory and practical exam the board office will issue your license. You must have your license in-hand prior to working.

Theory:
Wyoming requires NIC computer-based theory exams that are available at testing centers around the state. Candidate information bulletins regarding exams can be found on this webpage under Exam and Student Information. Once the board office approves your application you will receive an email from our test administration company ProV, with instructions to schedule and pay for your exam.
After you have passed your theory exam you can make an appointment with the board office to take your practical exam.

Practical:
Wyoming requires the NIC hands-on practical exam for barber (no chemicals) and instructors. Candidate information bulletins regarding exams can be found on this webpage under Exam and Student Information. Once you have passed your theory exam you may contact the board office at 307-777-3534 to schedule an appointment for your hands-on practical exam. All hands-on practical exams are conducted at the board office located at 2515 Warren Avenue, Suite 302, Cheyenne, WY 82002. Hands-on practical exams are available by appointment only.
